| a. | Maintain the department’s photography section. | ||
| b. | Publish annual administration reports, journals such as Ancient Ceylon, Epigraphia Zeylanica, Departmental publications in the form of guide-books, maps etc. | ||
| c. | Maintenance of the Departmental Laboratory for scientific research. | ||
| d. | Maintain library services to the departmental staff and the authorized personnel. | ||
| e. | Organise archaeological exhibitions to improve archaeological knowledge for the public,school children and conduct lecture programmes, workshops and seminars. | ||
| f. | Maintain the publication sales centres, issue permits on request of the public for taking photographs, films of ancient monuments. | ||
