Chemical Conservation of Cultural Property
  a. Conservation of cultural property of stone, brick, wood, metal and wall paintings
  b. Conduct research on ancient wall paintings, sculptures and other cultural property in the laboratory and publish the data.
  c. Cleaning and conservation of objects of the Archaeological museums in the laboratory.
  d. Conduct chemical analysis of objects and prepare reports.
 
Following main projects have been started in 2003
  1. Conservation of paintings and sculptures at Dambulla Temple and strengthen the plaster layer.
  2. Taking action to control of fungal growth and insect damage on the ceiling of the paintings of Doragamuwa Temple
  3. Strengthening of the plaster layer and conservation of paintings and sculptures at Kathaluwa Purvaramaya.
  4. Pest controlling of Akuressa Godapitiya Jethawanaramaya.
